Considering rhinoplasty (or a “nose job”) in San Francisco? Whether you are local to the area or plan to travel in for your surgery, the Bay Area is the perfect place to begin your new chapter with confidence.
As you plan your transformation, there are a few things you should know about rhinoplasty, the recovery process, and how to make the most of your experience. This blog post is your guide to it all—read on to learn more.
What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that refines and reshapes the nose to achieve a more attractive appearance and create better facial harmony. In addition to standard rhinoplasty, there are a few specific approaches:
- Asian rhinoplasty: Popular with my San Francisco patients of Asian descent, this technique specifically focuses on traits common in Asian populations, correcting them while maintaining your unique look and identity.
- Revision rhinoplasty: This secondary surgery revises the results of a previous rhinoplasty.
- Septoplasty: This technique resolves breathing issues and improves the nose’s function.
No two rhinoplasty procedures are exactly alike. Your plastic surgeon will customize your procedure to address your individual needs, whether cosmetic, functional, or both.
Choosing a Rhinoplasty Surgeon in the Bay Area
You have the luxury of choosing from a long list of experienced plastic surgeons in Northern California. How can you decide which doctor is a fit for you? Start by choosing a surgeon with credentials you can trust and before-and-after photos that speak for themselves.
As one of few triple board-certified plastic surgeons in the U.S. (plastic surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and otolaryngology head and neck surgery), I am proud to offer my unique expertise to the people I treat. How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost in San Francisco?
The price of rhinoplasty in San Francisco varies based on the complexity of the procedure and other factors. When you visit my office for a private consultation, we will provide you with a personalized price estimate.
What to Expect the Day of Your Rhinoplasty
Most rhinoplasties take 2 to 3 hours, but because I am so meticulous about creating natural-looking results, my surgeries occasionally take up to 4 to 6 hours. You will be comfortable the entire time and will be sent home with long-acting local anesthesia in place to keep your discomfort to a minimum.
How Long Does It Take to Recover From Rhinoplasty?
Most people are back to office jobs and school within about 10 days, though you may need to wait a bit longer if your job is physically strenuous. You’ll need to avoid rigorous activities for about 3 weeks and contact sports for about 6 weeks.
While you will notice a difference in your nose right away, it often takes up to a year for swelling to subside altogether and for your final results to take shape.
When Can I Fly Home After My Rhinoplasty?
If you are flying in for your surgery, plan to stay in town for about a week post-op as you recuperate. When you do travel home, be ready to step off the plane as a more confident new you.
Making the Most of Your Stay in the Bay Area
Having your rhinoplasty done in one of the most historic and beautiful cities in the U.S. offers benefits of its own. Many out-of-town patients choose to travel in early to enjoy all that the Bay Area has to offer. My office will be happy to help you plan your visit.
