The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes a barrage of parties, meetings, family get togethers, and other social events. Spending time with family and friends is important and fulfilling, but the weight of multiple obligations can become stressful. Once those have passed, many patients feel ready to “treat themselves” for the New Year. These are some of their favorite choices for facial rejuvenation.
Scheduling a consultation with Dr. Chow will give you the opportunity to create a game plan for rejuvenation. It can start simply and progress as needed. Choosing a surgeon of his caliber (Board certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Otolarangology, with a Fellowship in Aesthetic Facial Surgery) means that you can be treated by the same surgeon throughout your aging process.
BOTOX® AND FILLERS
It’s easy to start with a muscle relaxant such as BOTOX, Xeomin or Dysport. Fillers known as Belotero, JUVEDERM®, Voluma, VOLBELLA® and Radiesse can diminish wrinkles by volumizing areas that make you look tired. You can easily fit in a treatment and within an hour look refreshed!
Muscle relaxants work to soften wrinkles by paralyzing the muscle causing them. Areas best served by this method of treatment are the vertical wrinkles between your eyebrows (glabella) known as your “frown lines”, the horizontal lines across your forehead (they tend to become more pronounced in animation when you raise your brows while talking) and the crows feet, those lines around your eyes. It takes between 3-12 days for the agent to paralyze the muscle giving you a more rested look.
Fillers work by volumizing areas that look like depressions on your face. Think of lower eyelids (you have that sunken look with dark circles), the nasolabial folds that run from your nose down to your mouth, cheeks, temple, chin. Replacing volume that has been diminished with age gives one the illusion of youth with a restful appearance.
Dr. Chow also does a fabulous job doing lip augmentations using fillers. Adding sensual volume and shape to the lips is a relatively simple way to make a subtle but beautiful change. Fat transfer and injectable fillers can softly fill out thin lips, so they become a more striking facial feature without looking overly plump. Results are immediate and can last for several months, depending on the filler you’ve chosen and your physiology.
FAT GRAFTING
For a more long-term effect, Dr. Chow harvests your own fat and will use it in places that fillers are used. Fat grafting may include operating room time as well as an anesthesiologist so may be a bit more costly.
SURGICAL TREATMENTS
Blepharoplasty (eyelids), rhytidectomy (facelift), brow lift, chin augmentation, and rhinoplasty (nose) are all ways to reduce the affects of sun damaged skin and the aging process.
